Current Press Release:Press contact: AWARDS TO BE ANNOUNCED FOR 2008 YOUNG ECO-HEROES Action For Nature (AFN) is pleased to announce the conclusion of its 2008 International Young Eco-Hero program. Applications were accepted from young people between the ages of 8 and 16, and the winners will be announced by July 15, 2008 in recognition by AFN of their environmental achievements. We hope the accomplishments of these outstanding young people will inspire many others to preserve and protect the Earth upon which all life depends. Action For Nature is an environmental, education and advocacy non-profit that encourages young people to take personal action to better the environment, and to foster love and respect for nature. Based in San Francisco, California, the board and staff of Action For Nature believe that the long-term health of our planet requires that young people learn the importance of understanding and caring for the natural world. In addition to the International Young Eco-Hero Awards, AFN has also published Acting for Nature, a collection of stories about what children and teens from around the world have done to protect the environment. The young people featured in Acting for Nature are from countries including Saudi Arabia, Kenya, England, Germany and the U.S. First published in 2000, Acting for Nature is written for 8 – 14 year olds and is also a read aloud book for younger children. A teacher's guide accompanies Acting for Nature, making it an excellent curriculum resource. It is 104 pages and includes illustrations. AFN contact information: Press contact:
